The Covid-19 outbreak has taken us by surprise, not only have businesses plunged into worry but also have our beloved events been affected. Yes, so many panic over public gatherings because its easier to contract the virus.

However, there is an exception of those events you cannot miss like a close relative's wedding or funeral. This article provides 3 tips which are open for correction.

1. Understand the environment you are in:

Well, everyone is worried about what we can do in this tough moment but it does help to understand how the location of the event is. How is the ventilation? Where are the entry and exit signs? Is there a manageable sitting arrangement? For event organizers, it is advisable to reduce the number of guests and adjust the sitting arrangements based on the number of meters the guests will be sitting between each other. It is important to note that wearing masks is a good habit but it wont help much if the virus is transmitted from one individual to another within close proximity.

2. Invest in Sanitizers;

As it is important to learn your environment, event organizers should place hand sanitizers or hand washing points at close reach for the guests who are in attendance. This includes within the isles or if in an open field, near the entrance of the tent. Moreover, catering personnel should wear gloves and masks. The caterers should also recognize any server has contracted flu, colds or symptoms that may be linked to the virus and not allow them to cook or serve the guests. In some cases, it is important to leave individuals with special conditions at home - refer to medical manuals to identify them. In addition, those setting up the venue should have gloves and masks, which should be changed every 1 hour for hygiene and anyone showing the symptoms should not be allowed to set up.

3. Signage, Signage, Signage;

It is important for the event organizer to provide support for the guests on how to handle themselves. This includes signage to remind them why it is important to be hygienic, this information should look as splendid as the decor but pass on the message. Where possible, the organizers should have specific ushers who keep people updated on when they should clean their hands, avoid touching door knobs (where, they change their gloves every 1 hour to assist guests access the venue) and provide extra support in knowing how to interact with each other.

4. Understand the guests in attendance;

Where possible, the event organizers or those in charge of the guest lists should have knowledge on which guests will be attending the event. This is important so as to know the restrictions that have been instituted by the host government and to avoid spreading of the virus. Moreover, it will help in considering the sitting arrangements and ensure that the guests understand why or why not they are attending the event.

These are just some of the tips we were able to come up with amid Covid-19. Although they may not be accurate, we hope they will be helpful. In case you feel prone to the symptoms, we would advice you not to attend the event, even if it is for an immediate relative. This action will save lives of those around you and beyond. Also, seek medical advice on other specific measures to take.
